A person’s smile is important; it could make someones day—so it is equally important to take care of it. Practicing proper dental care habits regularly will prevent oral problems. The following are some dental health care tips:

Teeth should be brushed at least twice a day and it is ideal to do it after every meal. Use soft-bristled toothbrush and toothpaste that contains fluoride. The proper angle to brush will be to tilt it slightly against the teeth, using quick back and forth motion. The chewing surface of the teeth and the insides should be brushed thoroughly as well.

Spend two minutes in brushing teeth but avoid harsh scrubbing because it will irritate the gums. The tongue must be brushed because food particles also get stuck there. The toothbrush should be replaced every three months or when it becomes frayed. Since the toothbrush cannot reach the spaces in between the teeth, it is important to floss. This will help prevent plaque buildup.

Report to your dentist if the following are noticed:

  3. pus around the teeth and gums when they are pressed
  4. bad taste in the mouth
  5. sensitive teeth
  6. loose teeth
  7. changes in the way your teeth feel when the top and bottom touch
